Rapper’s Marriage on Ice Ice Baby: Vanilla Ice’s Wife Files for Divorce

Vanilla Ice, the popular rapper from the 1990s, is on the verge of getting divorced from his longtime wife.

Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, has been married to Laura Van Winkle since 1997. However, Laura recently filed divorce papers with a court in Palm Beach, Florida.

The couple has two daughters, so issues of child custody and child support could potentially arise in the divorce proceedings. Although one of the couple’s daughters is 18 years old, the other daughter is just 16 years of age and still a minor – so a child custody arrangement will definitely need to be worked out. In fact, it has been reported by the media that Laura Van Winkle has requested a sizable amount of child support, in addition to requesting alimony.

Vanilla Ice, who is 48 years old, is probably most well-known for his hit song, “Ice Ice Baby,” which reached the top of the Billboard sales charts in 1990. He recently cashed in on his fame by appearing on “Dancing with the Stars,” the popular reality TV show that features celebrities in a dancing competition. He previously appeared on other reality television shows such as “The Surreal Life” and “The Vanilla Ice Project.”

The marriage between Vanilla Ice and Laura Van Winkle lasted almost 20 years, but news of the divorce might not come as a complete shock to people who are familiar with the couple’s volatile history. On at least two prior occasions, Vanilla Ice was reportedly arrested for domestic violence. Despite the allegations of domestic battery, the couple reconciled and remained married until Van Winkle filed for divorce last week.
