Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin Finalize Divorce, Finally “Uncoupled”
July 21, 2016
Hollywood superstar Gwyneth Paltrow and her famous musician husband Chris Martin have finally completed their divorce proceedings and made their divorce official. Paltrow, the 43-year-old Oscar winner, and Martin, the 39-year-old lead singer of Coldplay, were married for more than a decade.
The finalization of the Hollywood power couple’s divorce took more than two years. In fact, it was in March 2014 that Paltrow and Martin legally separated and famously announced that they were “consciously uncoupling.” Since getting divorced, the couple has remained friends and even took family vacations together. That may have made the entire divorce process a bit less stressful for the couple.
The divorce settlement was reached in May, but it took several months for the details to be worked out. Now the divorce has been made official after a judgement was entered into a Los Angeles County divorce court.
There were a number of thorny issues in the Paltrow-Martin divorce, including child support and child custody. The ex-couple has two children, 12-year-old Apple and 10-year-old Moses. The couple’s divorce settlement reportedly includes an agreement for joint custody of their kids and sets forth terms for child support payments. Paltrow and Martin reportedly prioritized their children throughout the divorce process and wanted to ensure that their co-parenting went smoothly. In fact, Paltrow has previously said that the former couple’s “values are very much around the importance of family and the importance of those relationships.”
Additionally, it does not appear that there were any major disputes over financial issues, as Paltrow and Martin reportedly agreed to forego spousal support in either direction.
